Support & Funding Opportunities

The EuroBiofilms 2026 Organising Committee and the ESCMID Study Group on Biofilms are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive scientific community. We recognise that financial constraints can be a significant barrier to participation. To support broad international participation and ensure that innovative biofilm research is represented from across the globe, Registration Fee Waivers are available.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a waiver, applicants must:

  • Be the Presenting Author of an accepted abstract submitted to EuroBiofilms 2026
  • Be an Early Career Scientist1
  • Be affiliated with an institution in a Low- or Middle-Income Country (as defined by the World Bank) OR Be affiliated with an institution in a region experiencing armed conflict or humanitarian crisis.

1 An Early Career Scientist is defined as an active microbiologist who obtained their highest academic degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) less than five years prior to the application deadline or is currently a PhD student. In all cases, the applicant must be the presenting author of an abstract.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted between April 2nd and 8th, 2026.

Additional Funding Opportunities

Federation of European Microbiological Societies

Members of FEMS may apply directly for meeting attendance grants, subject to their eligibility criteria and deadlines. Applicants are encouraged to consult the FEMS website for up-to-date information regarding available support and application procedures.
